Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice has said he is taking “full responsibility” for his part in a car crash that left four people with minor injuries.
On Saturday, two cars caused a chain-reaction crash that involved six vehicles along a Dallas highway.
The 23-year-old American football player was leasing a Lamborghini SUV that police said was speeding along with a Corvette when the cars crashed on North Central Expressway.
Police added that the occupants of the Lamborghini and Corvette left the scene without providing information or checking if anyone needed medical attention.
Posting on social media today, Mr Rice said: “Today I met with Dallas PD investigators regarding Saturday’s accident.
“I take full responsibility for my part in this matter and will continue to co-operate with the necessary authorities. I sincerely apologise to everyone impacted in Saturday’s accident.”
Dallas police spokesperson Kristin Lowman told NBC News that investigators had spoken to Rice and his lawyers. The investigation is ongoing, and witnesses and victims are still being interviewed, she added.

Earlier this week, an attorney for Mr Rice said that he was co-operating with authorities but did not elaborate.
His team, the Chiefs, said at the time that they were aware of the crash but declined to comment.

Kyle Coker, an attorney for The Classic Lifestyle, a Dallas-based exotic car rental company, said that Rice was leasing the Lamborghini.
Under the terms of the lease, Rice would have been the only person allowed to drive the vehicle, which rents for about $1,750 (£1,400) a day and is worth about $250,000 (£197,000).

Mr Rice’s attorney, state senator Royce West, said his client “will take all necessary steps to address this situation responsibly”.
Mr West did not respond to questions Tuesday and has not said whether Mr Rice was driving one of the vehicles.
