They are due to arrive in the Inner Hebrides on 29 April – the day of their wedding at Westminster Abbey in 2011.

The couple, known as the Duke and Duchess of Rothesay when in Scotland, will begin their visit in the town of Tobermory, where the children’s television series Balamory was filmed.

Their Royal Foundation will announce a partnership to support and develop two community spaces on Mull.

Mull is part of lands once ruled by the Lord of the Isles, one of a number of Scottish titles William inherited from his father when Charles became King.

The couple, who have been together for more than 20 years, met at the University of St Andrews and were friends before beginning a relationship.

Their first child, Prince George, was born in 2013, followed by Princess Charlotte in 2015 and Prince Louis in 2018.

Kate returned to work following treatment for cancer last September.

Earlier that month she released a video saying she had finished chemotherapy and was “focused on staying cancer free”.

During the trip to Mull, they will visit a hall that serves as a community hub and tour the Tobermory producers’ market at the town’s harbour.

They will also visit a croft and restaurant on the west coast, see the Hebridean sheep farmed on the 50-acre site, and help to select garden produce for the menu.

On the final day they will meet countryside rangers from the Mull and Iona Ranger Service at the Ardura Community Forest, join a school group as they take part in outdoor learning, and meet Ardura Acorns, an early years outdoor learning play group that includes nature trails, den-building and animal tracking.
