The family of a man shot dead by police after a chase in south London have said they worry that if he “had not been black, he would have been arrested on Monday evening and not had his life cut short”.
Chris Kaba, who was in his 20s, died in hospital in the early hours of Tuesday morning after being shot at about 10pm on Monday night in Streatham Hill.
In a statement, his family called for a murder investigation to be launched into the circumstances of his death.
“We are devastated; we need answers and we need accountability,” said the statement, released through the charity Inquest.
“We are worried that if Chris had not been black, he would have been arrested on Monday evening and not had his life cut short.”
